About the Event
The ‘Introduction to Permaculture’ is designed to educate you on the basic understanding of Permaculture & the elements of Permaculture Design. This two day introduction course can be a prelude to the 72hr Permaculture Design Certificate or a 'Stand Alone' course which will help equip you to apply sustainable permaculture design principles and elements to your Urban or rural Homestead, kitchen garden ,apartment balcony or community gardens, with the inspiration to create your own sustainable space.
The theory component of the course is taught using a combination of Bill Mollison’s book ‘Introduction to Permaculture’ & Ro Morrows book 'Earth Users Guide to Permaculture" and highlights how to design, construct and manage a permaculture Urban or Rural property that is productive, ‘eco-friendly’, organic, healthy and low maintenance.
You will learn about the systems, techniques and strategies that will help you to create and enjoy your own piece of permaculture paradise.
The Practical component is demonstrated on Limestone Permaculture Farm where many of the essential components and their functions can be seen in action.
The course also outlines Permaculture Principles & Ethics which provides a basic understanding of the environment around us along with designing systems for food, animals, structures and community. We balance onsite practical examples with theory elements allowing the ‘Introduction to Permaculture’ workshop to help provide you with the confidence to get started on your own journey towards sustainable living.
